1. Youtube to shut down channels for kids

This weekend, many children’s channels received unpleasant news from YouTube: some of their videos with a large number of views were deleted.

Apparently, it all began with the channel “Toy Freaks”: it was regarded as an unacceptable for children. Then, YouTube administration decided to take this into their hands and check all the children channel on the website.

Also, YouTube removed the channel “Vlad Crazy Show”  last night, as soon as it crossed over a billion views.The fastest growing Russian children’s YouTube channel with almost 10M subscribers was punished for promoting children’s obsession with fast food.

2. Facebook is to let users track Russian propaganda

Facebook stated that by the end of the year they will create a way for the users to see whether they have contacted with Russian propaganda on the social network.

A new page will be added to the help page and will allow tracking whether publications appeared in the period of January 2015 till August 2017 are connected to Russian accounts.

3. Skype is removed from China’s App Store

Skype is not available for download on Chinese services for apps, including Apple’s App Store.

The company made this decision after receiving a notification from the Ministry of Public Security of China that a number of applications available on the App Store do not comply with the laws of the country.

In September, a Facebook-owned messenger, WhatsApp, was temporarily suspended in China. Gmail, Facebook, Twitter were removed too. All these services use encryption, which makes it more difficult for Chinese authorities to track user messages.
