WORST Disney Movie Ever! 5 Reasons You Shouldn’t Watch “A Wrinkle In Time”

2979

“Is it really so bad?” – you may ask and, unfortunately, Nexter.org says “Yes”.

It’s so bad that even Oprah Winfrey, Queen of the Universe, playing the Queen of the Universe, couldn’t save this cinematic disaster of epic proportions.

Keep on reading to know more.

Boring and predictable plot

The film is based on the children’s novel of the same name. It’s a story focused on Meg Murry (Storm Reid), a smart young girl who is suffering due to the disappearance of her father.

Three magical beings, Mrs. Who (Mindy Kaling), Mrs. Whatsit (Reese Witherspoon) and Mrs. Which (Oprah Winfrey), appear in her life and whisk Meg, her brother Charles Wallace (Deric McCabe) and her friend Calvin (Levi Miller) through space and time.

Their mission is to stop an evil force from consuming the universe and find Meg Murry’s father (Chris Pine).

Uninteresting final

According to The Hollywood Reporter’s chief film critic, Todd McCarthy, the intergalactic space explorations, written by Frozen’s Jennifer Lee and The Bridge to Terabithia’s Jeff Stockwell, “mostly feel rote, arbitrary rather than organic and, in the end, uninteresting; when in doubt, they always find another platitude.”

Big expectations

The movie will especially disappoint those who are familiar with the beloved novel.

USA Today’s Brian Truitt writes, “L’Engle’s source material is a sneakily deep novel for youngsters, and Jennifer Lee and Jeff Stockwell’s screenplay doesn’t do nearly enough with those themes of death, loss and parents letting their children down. Instead, theirs is a patchwork adaptation with weak character development, a lack of narrative groove and a haphazard finish.”

Unimpressive special effects

is “verburdened with unimpressive special effects and hobbled by unremittingly bad acting, it will confound and bore children and adults in equal measure …”, writes One Guy’s Opinion in the review.

Moreover, the whole journey to another universe is weird and trippy, and looks like a mess: “The scenes just drag on and seem to marvel at its special effects — which aren’t that strong to begin with — instead of moving the story forward”, wrotes Business Insider.
