Winter Snow Storm Harper Hits US Bringing Ice and Rain to Northeast (See in Pictures)

Winter Storm Harper
Winter Storm Harper is spreading a mess of snow, ice and rain across parts of the Northeast on Sunday after dumping heavy snowfall throughout parts of the Midwest earlier this weekend.
The central Appalachians to upstate New York and northern New England are experiencing snow on Sunday, while rain is falling from southern New England’s coast south to New York City.

Harper’s heaviest snowfall east of the Rockies was reported in Lake Desolation, New York, which saw 16 inches.

Buffalo, New York, reported 11.1 inches of snowfall Sunday morning, and 9 inches were reported in Albany, New York. State College, Pennsylvania, saw 8 inches of snow by early Sunday morning, which then changed to rain.

The storm is responsible for at least four deaths, including a Kansas Department of Transportation worker who was killed during snow removal.

Snowy conditions caused a jet to slide off the runway at O’Hare International Airport on Saturday. No one was reported injured.

Winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories have been posted by the National Weather Service from the central Appalachians into New England, including Buffalo, New York, Burlington, Vermont, Worcester, Massachusetts, and Portland, Maine.
