Nexter.org tells about the most interesting things and events that happened with Elon during the last seven days.

‘Promise’ seems to be the easiest word?

Did you notice that Elon Musk is a person who likes to promise different thing some of which are never meant to become real (yes, we still talking about Model 3)?

So, just to make sure we do not provide fake news, here’s every little thing Elon promised recently (would be fare enough to admit that some of them he actually did).

  • To fix Flint’s water

Musk tweeted on Wednesday that he will personally fund fixing the notorious water in Flint, Michigan for any house that has water contamination above FDA levels.

  • To use a tiny submarine to save 12 boys and their soccer coach trapped in a cave in Thailand.

And despite it wasn’t used, still, this will be a useful tool for such situations.

  • To fix Los Angeles’ famously bad traffic with “a 3D network of tunnels.” Trips will cost $1, he said.
  • To produce an electric pickup truck

In response to someone who requested a Tesla pickup truck, Musk said, “I promise that we will make a pickup truck right after Model Y. Have had the core design/engineering elements in my mind for almost 5 years. Am dying to build it.”

  • To manufacture 200,000 Tesla Model 3s by the end of 2017.

The company made not quite 2,700 Model 3 sedans last year.

  • To produce 5,000 Model 3s in one week.

He narrowly achieved that goal last month.

  • To create a rating system for journalists and news outlets

In May Musk went on Twitter criticizing the media for allegedly publishing lies. At one point, he tweeted that he plans to start a site called “Pravda” that would rate the credibility of news organizations.

The name choice is actually even weirder than the news itself. “Pravda” is the name of a Russian newspaper that served as the official newspaper of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.

  • To turn an Australian car show into “the cleanest, greenest car festival on Earth”
  • To offer a SpaceX option package for the Tesla Roadster, including about 10 small rocket thrusters
  • To activate full self-driving features through its Autopilot system in August
  • To sell a large stake in Tesla in 20 years to finance SpaceX’s Mars ambitions
  • To open a new Chinese battery gigafactory

The plant, which Shanghai said would be the largest foreign-backed industrial project in its history, could also cost as much as $5 billion, according to Robert W. Baird & Co. equity analyst Ben Kallo.

“That’s a good starting point,” Kallo said in a Bloomberg interview. “The biggest question right now for investors, bulls and bears alike, is how are they going to pay for it?”
