Nature is full of mysteries and extremely weird phenomena, however, most of them have an explanation due to the modern science improvements.

See the list of 5 weirdest weather occurrences on Nexter.org.

#1 Firenado

Firenado or a fire whirl (fire devil, fire tornado, fire swirl, fire twister) is a whirlwind made of flame or ash. It commonly starts with a whirl of wind or smoke because of intense rising heat and turbulent wind conditions.

The last one was caught by Leicestershire Fire and Rescue in England. The Guardian reports that plume rose more than 50 feet high.

#2 Non-Aqueous Rain

Have you ever hear a story of fish falling from the sky? Although extremely rare, this happens in real life! In Honduras, there is an annual weather phenomenon with a special name – Lluvia de Peces, which means that fish fall from the sky.

In ancient time, it was believed that fish falling from the sky was a blessing from God giving food to the poor. How does it occur? Waterspouts vacuum up the fish from the sea/ocean up to the sky and throw it on the ground.

#3 Mammatus clouds

Mammatus clouds are very rare weather occurrence that is still unexplained. It resembles thousands of white (or colorful, in case of sunset) balloons floating in the sky.

Despite the fact that any theory of its formation isn’t proved, it could happen due to a cooling of part of the cloud which causes it to drop down, an unstable cloud where wet air doesn’t mix fully with dry air.

#4 Brinicle

Brinicle (brine+icicle) looks just marvelous and amazing, however, don’t you ever touch it when you see it! The brinicle is caused by cold, sinking brine when cold air falls into the warm sea and makes ice “clouds” in the water.

Though it looks really cool, it leaves a vicious web of ice that freezes anything that it touches, like sea animals and weed.

#5 Roll clouds

Roll clouds are mostly associated with apocalypse as the one who sees them in the distance will probably run away as fast as possible.

Roll clouds are usually formed by cold, wet air flowing out of sea breezes or cold fronts. This phenomenon is quite common in Queensland, Australia (Cape York Peninsula).
