California couple and multiple drug rapes

Grant William Robicheaux, 38, and Cerissa Laura Riley, 31, reportedly attacked 2 women they met at a bar back in 2016. They are a California surgeon and his girlfriend. Both convicts were arrested on September 12 and are now being charged with rape by use of drugs, oral copulation by anesthesia and many more.

Investigators found “thousands and thousands of videos and images on Robicheaux’s phone, many also including Riley,” said Tony Rackauckas, Orange County District Attorney.

Some of the footage found on convicts phones show women who “appear to be highly intoxicated beyond the ability to consent or resist, and they’re barely responsive to the defendant’s sexual advances. Based on this evidence, we believe that there might be many unidentified victims out there,” he said.

Investigators are currently trying to identify women in the videos.

What we know about the defendants

Grant William Robicheaux was born in Newport Beach and participated in a Bravo TV show called “Online Dating Rituals of the American Male” in an episode “Three’s A Crowd”.

“We believe the defendants used their good looks and charm to lower the inhibitions of their potential prey,” Rackauckas added. “People often assume that rapists are creepy, scary men who lunge out from hiding amongst bushes and attack unsuspecting women. The reality is that rapists come in all socioeconomic groups, of any background.”

It looks like that Robicheaux and Riley worked as a team to meet and drug young women in bars, cafes, restaurants to bring them to their apartment and rape.

“Women who have encountered these two might have felt a false sense of security due to the fact that both defendants are clean cut, good-looking,” Rackauckas stated.

“We tend to trust doctors who take an oath to do no harm. The second defendant, being a female, is key. A woman purporting to be his girlfriend clearly played a significant role in disarming the victims, making them feel comfortable and safe,” Orange County District Attorney added.

“We’ve all heard of a wolf in sheep’s clothing,” said the district attorney. “Well, a wolf can wear scrubs or doctor’s clothing. Or a wolf can be a beautiful woman.”

Two victims of sexual assault

The first victim, a 32-year-old woman, stated she met the couple at a restaurant in 2016 and was invited to a party. Then they drugged her and took to surgeon’s apartment and raped. On the next day, she contacted the local police and overcame a test for drugs.

The same year in fall, the second victim woke up in their apartment and screamed for help until the neighbors called for police. A woman reported that she lost consciousness after drinking with the Robicheaux and Riley at a bar.

Both victims were recorded on the convicts camera on their phone.

What kind of drugs they used?

During the investigation and a search of man’s apartment, a large quantity of illegal drugs, including GHB (considered a date-rape drug), psychedelic mushrooms, ecstasy and cocaine.

Moreover, it turned out that Robicheaux possesses 2 illegal semi-automatic rifles, 4 other kinds of firearms and magazines capable of carrying large amounts of ammunition.

Robicheaux and Riley were released on $100,000 bail, but they are going to be charged in court on October 24.
