What the heck is biohacking?

One of the latest popular trends is biohacking.

are people who want to upgrade their bodies and make it better with the help of science.

are willing to put their own health and safety on the line – as long as it grants them a fast track to the latest science has to offer.

Australian Meow-Meow

The Australian man whose name is Meow-Ludo Disco Gamma Meow-Meow, 33, was fined after implanting an Opal card chip into his hand.

He had the travel card chip surgically inserted so he could tap on to the Sydney public transport network using his hand.

NSW Transport pressed charges against Mr Meow-Meow for not traveling with a valid ticket as he had tampered with the card.

‘I paid my fare and tapped on. I’m a bit ahead of where the law is and the law is sort of behind where the technology is.

Mr Meow-Meow was slapped with a $220 fine and $1,000 court costs at Newtown Local Court on Friday.

Aaron Traywick

A biohacker Aaron Traywick, 28, who leads biotech firm Ascendance Biomedical, used an experimental herpes treatment and injected himself in front of an audience at Body Hacking Con in Austin, Feb. 2018.

Instead of being developed by research scientists in laboratories, it was created by a biohacker named Andreas Stuermer, who “holds a masters degree and is a bioentrepreneur and science lover,” according to a conference bio.

Ben Greenfield

One more biohacker Ben Greenfield experimented with the size of his penis.

“I wanted to go from good to great, and to get a bigger dick,” he told Gizmodo.

So he decided to inject himself with stem cells: “You don’t feel a thing other than a little bit of pressure.”

Three or four days after the procedure, he said, it was “almost like it grew.” His erections were also bigger, his penis got harder, and his orgasms were better, he said.

The better orgasms, he said, might be a placebo effect, but the anatomical changes in size “cannot be denied.”

Biomagnets

Biomagnets are one of the more popular trends in biohacking. This augmentation usually includes either the disc-shaped or bulkier cylindrical magnets, which afford humans alternative ways to interact and sense their environment.

Once inserted beneath the skin (ideally along the fingertips or palm), these slight reactions stimulate tactile nerve endings. While the smaller magnets are ideal for tactile sensations, the larger magnets are preferred when it comes to actually lifting and interacting with magnetic objects.
