Follow the weekend of teasing and speculations, it turned out that Kendall Jenner’s “big announcement” was about her acne for promotional advert. Here’s what epic mistake she made and how fans reacted.

Big announcement or big dissapointment?

For several days, Kendall and Kris Jenner teased the fact that she was about to make a “raw” and emotional announcement that would help and inspire others.

On Saturday, Kris Jenner urged her nearly 10 million Twitter followers to keep an eye out Sunday night for a special announcement on Kendall Jenner’s Twitter.

People immediately began speculating as to what the announcement would be, with theories spanning everything from an eating disorder to a recounting of sexual assault.

However, the announcement ended up being that Kendall was the new spokesperson for anti-acne skincare brand, Proactiv.

First, let us be clear. Opening up about any struggle is super brave and important, and it’s definitely a good thing Kendall is sharing this part of her life with people. However, people were not happy and branded the announcement an “anti-climax.”

Proactiv promo fail?

In the new promotional advert which accompanied the big announcement, Kendall revealed that Proactiv was the only product that “cleared” her skin.

However, hours after her announcement, an interview with Kylie Jenner from 2015 resurfaced and it tells a very different story.

In an interview about her skincare regime, Kylie claimed that her family’s dermatologist, Christie Kidd, had “cured” Kendall’s acne so effectively, Kylie decided to go and see her too.

Speaking to The New York Times, she said: "We have a family dermatologist, Christie Kidd in Beverly Hills. My sister Kendall had really bad acne when she was younger, and she really cleared it up. I thought, “Well if she cured Kendall, I should start to visit her.”

And although Kendall was a little more vague when she shared her acne story on her app in 2015, she did reveal that it had taken “years” of working with her “incredible dermatologist” for her skin to clear up.

She also revealed she’d started doing Laser Genesis, a form of skin therapy which is designed to improve skin texture and help scarring, which helped her become “acne-free for about three years now.”
