President Donald Trump delivered his first State of the Union address Tuesday. The event was full of failure moments you’ve probably missed.

Stay with Nexter.org to know more.

Most memorable moments

President Trump delivered one of the longest State of the Union speeches in history lasting for one hour and 20 minutes.

The President largely stuck to themes the White House had outlined in the days leading up to the speech: jobs, infrastructure, immigration, trade and national security.

Here are the key points you need to know about it:

  • A call for bipartisanship

A dominant element in Trump’s first State of the Union address was calling for unity and bipartisanship.

“Tonight, I call upon on all of us to set aside our differences, to seek out common ground, and to summon the unity we need to deliver for the people. This is really the key. These are the people we were elected to serve.”

  • The address was hollow?

The Washington Post describes President’s speech as “divisive and misleading”. “Have a president’s words ever rung more hollow?” they ask.

It said the speech offered little reason to hope Trump’s second year “would be more constructive than his first”.

  • MAGA

Mr Trump said his administration was “building a safe, strong and proud America”.

“There has never been a better time to start living the American dream,” he told lawmakers in a one-hour-and-20-minute speech.

He also claimed the nation should come together as “one team, one people and one American family”.

  • Immigration

But he insisted on a border wall with Mexico and other concessions from Democrats as part of any over-arching immigration deal.

Some Democrats booed when the president said he wanted to curtail an allowance for legal immigrants to bring family members into the country.

  • New American moment

Seems that not only Melania Trump’s speech writers make mistakes.

A few hours before President Trump speech, the White House released a series of excerpts from Trump’s prepared speech. Attentive people noticed that one of the catchiest slogans was actually stolen from Hillary Clinton.

It was the declaration of a “new American moment,” a phrase which Hillary Clinton used during her Senate confirmation hearing in January 2009 when she was appointed Secretary of State by then President Barack Obama.

  • Melania Trump

As Nexter.org exclusively reported before, first signs of divorce could be notice between first couple. Here is another egregious example – breaking with longstanding tradition, Melania Trump took her own motorcade to State of the Union.

Also, she was wearing a cream pantsuit by French design house Christian Dior, and a white silk blouse from Italian label Dolce & Gabbana, while all other female guest were wearing black.

The first lady looked coincidentally very similar to the female Democratic congressional members who last year at Trump’s address to the Joint Session of Congress protested Trump’s policies by wearing white, the color of suffragettes.

  • Here’re the audience’s face expressions on Trump’s speech:

Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ)

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY)

Rep. Jams Clyburn

Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch

First Lady
