Trump-Kim Historical Summit: Epic Leaders Arrival in Singapore + Other Things We Know So Far
As Nexter.org wrote before, POTUS Donald Trump and North Korea Kim Jong Un have decided to meet at the historical summit at the Capella Hotel on Singapore’s Sentosa Island on June 12. Here are what we know about the preparation as hours left until the big meeting.
This is a developing story. Stay with Nexter.org for the fresh updates.
Key things to know
As it was announced earlier, the summit will take place in Singapore at 9 am local time on June 12 (9 pm EST on June 11) at the Capella Hotel on Sentosa Island.
“Singapore is pleased to host the meeting between President of the United States Donald J Trump and Democratic People’s Republic of Korea State Affairs Commission Chairman Kim Jong Un on 12 June 2018,” MFA said in a statement.
POTUS Donald Trump and North Korea leader Kim Jong Un are to discuss North Korea’s denuclearization and nuclear weapon testing programme.
The official declined to say how long the first meeting is expected to last, but said it will take place prior to an expanded meeting where U.S. and North Korean officials would be in attendance.
Diplomats and foreign policy experts have criticized the idea of a U.S. president sitting down solo with the North Korean dictator, saying it heightens the potential for a misleading readout from Kim that could come into conflict with Trump’s account of the exchange.
