POTUS and North Korea Kim Jong Un have decided to meet at the historical summit at the Capella Hotel on Singapore’s Sentosa Island on June 12.

Trump-Kim summit in details

Trump confirmed the time and place for the summit had been decided. Also, the President warned that he could cancel the summit if he does not feel it would be “fruitful.” POTUS and North Korea leader Kim Jong Un are to discuss North Korea’s denuclearization and nuclear weapon testing programme.

“Singapore is pleased to host the meeting between President of the United States Donald J Trump and Democratic People’s Republic of Korea State Affairs Commission Chairman Kim Jong Un on 12 June 2018,” MFA said in a statement.

A lot of sites had been considered as the place for the meeting, but it seems two sides have finally agreed and have chosen the locations. The leaders are to meet at the Capella Hotel on Singapore’s Sentosa Island on June 12, CNN reports.

The date was pushed from late May to June, but the G7 summit is to take place on June 8 and 9, so, probably, Kim and Trump will meet in mid-June. The talks are going to highlight the topics of denuclearization of the Korean peninsula and a “new era of peace”.

Sanders said Monday the meeting will take place at 9 am local time on June 12 (9 pm EST on June 11).

Trump canceled summit with Kim Jong Un

On May 24, President  canceled the historical meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un next month, he announced in a letter to Kim released by the White House Thursday morning.

“I was very much looking forward to being there with you. Sadly, based on the tremendous anger and open hostility displayed in your most recent statement, I feel it is inappropriate, at this time, to have this long-planned meeting,” Trump wrote. “Therefore, please let this letter serve to represent that the Singapore summit, for the good of both parties, but to the detriment of the world, will not take place.”

Trump’s letter was released after North Korea cast further doubt on the meeting, warning that Pyongyang could make the US “taste an appalling tragedy”.

In a statement earlier on Thursday, North Korea’s vice-foreign minister Choe Son-hui said: “We will neither beg the US for dialogue nor take the trouble to persuade them if they do not want to sit together with us.”

Third summit

Recently, Kim Jong Un has made his first visit and met China’s President Xi Jinping in Beijing since he acquired power in 2011. According to CNN, President of China and North Korean Leader have been discussing denuclearization and future partnerships.

Kim traveled to China by train, which appeared in news under the title “mystery train”  on March 25. To show that China is ready and glad to meet North Korean Leader, Xi Jinping hosted a grand banquet for Kim at the Great Hall of the People.

The main reason for Beijing meeting was to come to a commitment about denuclearization of North and South Korea, and Kim seems to finally agree.

Also, a week ago South Korea’s president met with North Korea’s Kim Jong Un in a historic summit for the first time in eleven years. Two leaders attend the inter-Korean summit in the truce zone of Panmunjom.

This is an important event as everybody expect the two countries will engage in peace talks and discuss the North’s nuclear weapons program. We hope the summit with POTUS will be as successful as the meetings with China’s and South Korea’s Presidents.
