This year the dominance of rap, R&B and Latin pop is strongly felt. It shows the 8 nominations of JAY-Z, who together with Beyonce who was titled as the world’s highest-paid women in music 2017, can be named as the most successful -couple. He’s followed by Kendrick Lamar, whose “DAMN.” album scored seven; Bruno Mars with six; and Childish Gambino (aka actor Donald Glover), newcomers SZA and Khalid, and producer No I.D. (who worked on “4:44”) with five each.

Most shocking snubs

This year, surprisingly, top pop musicians are left behind.

  • Ed Sheeran was limited to single-genre competition with nods for Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Solo Performance.
  • Katy Perry’s Witness album didn’t receive any nomination at all.
  • Jack Antonoff, who produced for Lorde, Pink, Swift, Fifth Harmony and more, was not nominated in the Producer of the Year category.
  • Lady Gaga got Best Pop Solo Performance nomination for Million Reasons song competing with P!nk’s What About Us and Ed Sheeran’s Shape Of You.

Don’t miss the 60th Grammy Awards that will air live from New York’s Madison Square Garden Jan. 28 on CBS.

Here are nominations in top three categories – Record, Album, and Song of the year.
