New Tolkien era to come!

Christopher Tolkien, son of John Tolkien, edited his father’s “The Fall of Gondolin.” A new novel by the author of “The Lord of the Rings” will be released in August 2018 by HarperCollins.

The history of the fall of the elven city of Gondolin Tolkien began to write back in 1916 when he was hospitalized after the Battle of the Somme. According to the writer, this is “the first real story” in the universe of Middle-earth.

The action of “The Fall of Gondolin” unfolds the events happened long before the travel of the hobbits. The evil Elvish city of Gondolin is attacked by the cruel Morgoth, the ruler of Sauron. The describes the confrontation between Morgoth and the sea god Ulmo, who protects the elves.

“They were journeying into a new story, the Tale of Eärendel, which Tolkien never wrote, but which is sketched out in this from other sources,” said HarperCollins.

The last of John Tolkien “The Tale of Beren and Lúthien” was published under the editorship of Christopher in 2017.
