The torch’s journey across Japan will coincide with the start of cherry blossom season next March.
Tokyo 2020 Olympic Mascots
Elementary Schools children chose the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games mascots.

Miraitowa (pronounced as “miray-towa”) is the Olympic mascot in blue. The name of this character combines the Japanese words “mirai” and “towa” which translate to “future” and “eternity” in English.
The other one, Someity, pronounced as “soh-may-tee,” is pink-colored. Someity’s name comes from the Japanese cherry blossom.
Robots built by Toyota are going to help visitors
Robots created by the Toyota Motor Corporation will help people that are coming to Tokyo 2020.
The range of tasks varies from carrying food and showing people their seats to providing information on the Olympic Games.

“The Tokyo 2020 Games are a unique opportunity for us to display Japanese robot technology,” Hirohisa Hirukawa, the Tokyo 2020 Robot Project’s leader, said in a statement.
“This project will not simply be about exhibiting robots, but showcasing their practical real-life deployment helping people,” Hirukawa added.

Tokyo 2020 is scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020 in Japan.

“The 2020 Games will be a little bit different [to the 1964 Games] in the sense that they will focus more on big changes in society, for example making the society more tolerant towards each other regardless of the difference of race, religion or physical abilities,” Hidetoshi Fujisawa, Tokyo 2020’s executive director of communications and engagement.
“We are hoping we will improve the conditions and infrastructure to make it a kinder place for everyone to live.”
