Things You Should Know About Anabolic Steroids

106

Let’s admit it, we all want to get big and strong – and fast. Working out in the gym for hours on end is all fun and games, but wouldn’t it be nice if we had the option to get the same results in just a few months worth of sweat? Of course it would. And as it happens, someone has thought about it before, and the result was the unprescribed introduction of anabolic steroids into the gym.

But as time went by, people began to do more in depth research into  what these steroids were all about. When the truth about anabolic steroids and how much of a double-edged sword they are came out, scientists and athletes alike continued on their journey of finding a better answer.

What’s All the Hype About Anabolic Steroids?

The results that anabolic steroids promised were magical, and it sure did keep its end of the deal. All you needed was to keep constant on your injection schedule, pump up the weights, and you’re invincible. They promised huge muscle mass gains in the shortest period of time, enhanced recovery, extended endurance for elongated workouts, fat loss, and an overall super human performance. It was the perfect magical spell. But later on, everyone using realized that it more of a curse rather than a spell.

The Ugly Side of Using Anabolic Steroids

Despite the many gifts that anabolic steroids promised, the price was just too expensive to pay. Here’s why:

1. Steroids Increase Your Blood Pressure
Studies have shown that those who abuse anabolic steroids have severely increased blood pressure and hypertension, when compared with former-users or non-users. This elevation in blood pressure may be associated with increased risk of serious heart diseases.

2. Steroids Lower Your Good Cholesterol, While Increasing The Bad One
There are two types of cholesterol: The good cholesterol (HDL) and the bad one (LDL). High levels of HDL and low levels of LDL indicates better vascular health, while the opposite is often associated with serious diseases of the blood vessels, the heart, and others. Steroids lowers the levels of HDL while raising those of LDL, increasing the risk of many diseases.

3. Steroids Can Damage Your Liver
Abusing steroids damages the liver in many ways. First off, steroids cause “Cholestasis”, a condition where bile, a digestive juice produced by the liver, gets stuck and unable to reach the digestive system. The bile then leaks out into the blood, resulting in jaundice, dark urine, nausea, vomiting and loss of appetite. Steroids abuse has also been linked to the development of benign tumors in the liver, called adenomas. While adenomas aren’t cancerous, they’re dangerous as they can rupture at any time and cause severe bleeding in the liver.

The thing with steroids is that they’re addictive. With every new dose, you’re tempted to increase the dose, increase the frequency, and start on the road of drug abuse. This makes it of higher probability to damage the liver.

4. People On Steroids Go Bald
Anabolic steroids accelerates the production of DHT hormone, which is primarily linked to male pattern baldness. Now, if you’re more prone to balding thanks to your genetic predisposition, the hair loss and balding will be much more pronounced. Those who have less genetic predisposition are less prone, but might still experience loss in hair. The same goes for women.

5. Steroids Cause Severe Acne
Abusing of steroids affects many organs in the body, including the skin. Due to the increased sebum secretion, and the sweat produced in prolonged workout sessions, breakouts of acne can become more pronounced. Steroids have also been linked to increased growth of the bacteria causing the acne.

6. Steroids Increase the Masculinity of Women
Not surprisingly, steroids affect female-abusers badly. Steroids cause disturbances in the menstrual cycles and even infertility. They also develop masculine traits in women, as pronounced in the facial hair, deepening of voice, and muscular body form. Teenage girls who use steroids may suffer from long-term masculinization.

7. And They Damages the Masculinity of Men
Steroids mimic testosterone, the male sex hormone. Ironically enough, steroids abuse have been found to damage the masculinity of men. They shrink their testicles, grow their man-boobs (known as gynaecomastia) and their prostates, kill their sex drive, reduce sperm production, decrease their hormone levels and cause sterility.

8. Steroids Affects the Psychological Health of Users
Steroids aren’t only dangerous for all of the detrimental effects on the physical health, they’re also dangerous for the mental health of users. They can result in mood swings, with extreme irritability, aggression, delusions and impaired judgment.

Steroids are also addictive, they cause both the body and the mind to become dependant on them. When deprived of steroids, the user starts showing drug-seeking behavior, even when side effects have become more pronounced. They even go through withdrawal symptoms, such as fatigue, loss of appetite, restlessness, mood swings, decreased libido, loss of sleep and steroid cravings.

Cases of severe withdrawal can go into depressive episodes and possibly become suicidal. And even after stopping the use of steroids, these depressive episodes can last up to a year later.

9. There’s a Risk Of HIV/Hepatitis Infection With Sharing Needles
The best way for the body to utilize steroids is to take them through injection. This increases the risk of getting an HIV or hepatitis infection, in case of unsterile syringe or sharing needles.

But there had to be some workaround, right?

Anabolic Steroid Alternatives
Plenty of research has been done over the years to find alternatives to anabolic steroids. There had to be something that would give the same effect of anabolic steroids without completely wrecking your life for good. And so the search for the perfect answer continued – and it was genuinely for the greater good. This is where anabolic steroid alternatives, also known as legal steroids, walked in to save the day.

The first thing you should know about legal steroids is that they’ve skipped through all of the aforementioned side effects of the traditional steroids, while giving the same promising results of muscle mass, endurance, and strength gains, while cutting fats and getting you ripped. That’s right, it’s been a huge breakthrough. Most of the ingredients come from natural substances that mimic the body’s natural hormones, or stimulate the body to produce the needed substances. If you’ve come across some legal steroids, you might recognize some of the most popular ones like D-Bal, Trenorol, HGH-X2, and others. For every anabolic steroid you’ve heard of, you’ll find an alternative that does the same promised job.

Getting Strong While Keeping Safe
There was a time when athletes and gym enthusiasts had been hard pressed against the gym walls. Competition was tight and their options were limited, all of which were very some tempting reasons to seek anabolic steroids for support. However, anabolic steroids took more than they bargained for, leaving them with a terrible list of health side effects. That made the introduction of anabolic steroid alternatives a very welcomed savior, which promised the same results, no side effects.
