The Prime Locations Across the World that Celebrities Call Home

When they’re not making movies or music, dealing with business matters like endorsements, or handling a number of side projects, celebrities – like any of us – need a little bit of downtime.

Luckily for them, they often have access to resources which mean they can vacation in some of the most stunning locations on the planet. However, if they simply want to enjoy some home comforts, they might instead opt to visit a property they own in some equally beautiful area of the globe.

But which parts of the world are particularly popular with celebrities? While work may leave them gravitating towards cities like New York and Los Angeles, we have taken a look at other locations where the rich and famous like to set up home.

The luxury of villas
The picturesque area surrounding Lake Como in northern Italy has become hugely popular with famous people through the years, but it is probably most commonly associated with George Clooney these days.

As Explore Lake Como explains, it is believed the Hollywood star purchased Villa L’Oleandra in Laglio in 2001 and he is thought to live in the property for up to four months a year. But what does George get to enjoy when he stays there? Well, it is believed to have been built in the 18th century and sits directly on the edge of the famous lake.

Another part of the world where celebrities have been known to purchase villas is Dubai. For example, Culture Trip outlines how David and Victoria Beckham are thought to own a seven-bed villa on the famous man-made island of Palm Jumeirah. Villas are a very common form of accommodation across the UAE in general, with that style of property also being popular in Dubai’s close neighbour Sharjah. Property company Bayut explains that three to six-bed options are common in that emirate, with annual rents for the largest beginning at around AED 65,000 ($17,695).

The might of mansions
London is another city where a number of celebrities have set up home through the years, but one of the most notable examples in recent times has to be Rihanna.

Last year, the star surprised many fans by revealing she had been in the UK for some time, and The Sun subsequently reported that she had been living in a seven-bedroom mansion thought to be worth around £30 million ($36.7 million). The London property is believed to include landscaped gardens and its own gym.

Back on this side of the Atlantic, Martha’s Vineyard has for some time been regarded as a classic location for the rich and famous to enjoy a getaway. Business Insider reported at the end of last year how the Obamas had apparently taken the plunge and bought a mansion on the island. The Edgartown property is reportedly worth more than $11 million and includes a private beachfront.

There’s no place like home
Celebrities are able to call all manner of exotic places home, and here we have put a spotlight on just a handful of particularly popular locations.

It will be intriguing to see if interest in these areas continues in the coming years, or whether new locations emerge to become top celebrity property hotspots.
