The Nun Premiere, ‘Captain Marvel’ First Look + 7 More Movie News and Announcements of the Week

1053 prepared for you a weekly dose of most interesting movies premieres and announcements you might have missed this week.

‘The Nun’ premiere

The Nun is an upcoming American gothic supernatural horror film directed by Corin Hardy and scheduled for September 7, 2018.

Ualac or Valak was first mentioned in the goetic grimoires as a demonic creature. According to these stories, Valak is known as the Great President of Hell.

The story starts when a young nun at a cloistered abbey in Romania takes her own life, a priest with a haunted past and a novitiate on the threshold of her final vows are sent by the Vatican to investigate. Together they uncover the order’s unholy secret.

‘Captain Marvel’ first look

Like last year’s Black Panther, Captain Marvel should push the MCU into new, more diverse terrain. And after a long wait for the hero’s arrival, we finally have our first official look at her in red-and-blue-costumed action, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly.

When Captain Marvel hits theaters March 8, 2019, it’ll be the 21st entry in the MCU — and the first to star a solo female superhero.

One more ‘Police Academy’ movie is coming

’80s actor Steve Guttenberg, who played the wise-cracking Mahoney in the original cult comedy and many of its subsequent sequels, confirmed the news on Twitter.

When a fan asked if the new movie would be set in London, Guttenberg replied, “…the next Police Academy is coming, no details yet, but it is in a gift bag being readied!”

Despite his successes and the relationships he’s built with people, it looks like BoJack will be needing to figure out how exactly he can get better in this season.

BoJack Horseman Season 5 arrives on Netflix Sept. 14.

‘Doctor Who’ premiere date

The new season will premiere on @BBCAMERICA at the same time as the UK on Sunday, October 7th, followed by a special encore in the evening. New episodes will premiere regularly on Sundays.

‘House of Cards’ teaser

Netflix’s House of Cards has revealed the fate of Frank Underwood, the character long played by disgraced actor Kevin Spacey.

A Wednesday teaser for the upcoming sixth and final season of Netflix’s political thriller shows the series’ new president, Claire Underwood (Robin Wright), standing at her husband’s grave. The clip seemingly answers the question over exactly how the series would handle the departure of its former star.
