Starting on Friday, November 2, Starbucks stores in US and Canada will sell six seasonal drinks: Peppermint Mocha (which makes its return for a 16th year!), Toasted White Chocolate Mocha, Caramel Brulée Latte, Chestnut Praline Latte, Gingerbread Latte, and Eggnog Latte.

“We started (this season) by looking to the past,” Kristy Cameron from the Starbucks Creative Studio said.

Seems this year Starbucks cups were designed to satisfy every customer. White background color and black outlines give an opportunity to create your own unique cup and then share your piece of art in social media.

There are also a bunch of items printed on the cup such as presents, snowflakes, a Christmas tree, ornaments, stars and two hands holding cups colored in red.

“This year’s cup is intentionally designed to encourage our customers to add their own color and illustrations,” said Leanne Fremar, executive creative director for Starbucks. “We love the idea of everyone making this year’s cup their own.”

Last year cups looked absolutely gorgeous and received rave reviews. Instead of one design, there were several, each created by a Starbucks fan. Perhaps that experience inspired the coffee giant to create more personalized cups in 2017.

In the past years, Starbucks was criticized for their holiday cup designs. Two years ago, the design was simply solid red. It divided Starbucks lovers in two after a video by Joshua Feuerstein, who railed against the plain red cups’ political correctness.

“Do you realize that Starbucks wanted to take Christ and Christmas off of their brand-new cups?” he asks. “That’s why they’re just plain red.”

On social media, a hashtag war commenced — #MerryChristmasStarbucks on one end and #ItsJustACup on the other.
