According to Business Insider, Saudi Arabia is closer to dig a canal along its 38-mile border with Qatar turning it into an island. As it’s reported, five companies are invited to bid for the project with a name “Salwa Channel”.
Saudi Arabia will announce the winner of the contract deal within 90 days and will finish the project by the end of 2018. The country wants to build resorts and establish marine tours and to turn the place near the border into a perfect vacation site for tourists.

Saudi Arabia took control of the Salwa border back in April and limited any contacts with Qatar on land.
Saud al-Qahtani, an adviser to Prince Mohammed bin Salman, tweeted saying: “Starting digging the Salwa Canal. Congratulations to the Saudi people for this wonderful project that will transform the small terrorist state of Qatar into an island.”
Saudi Arabia and a number of Arab countries on June 5, 2017, broke up diplomatic relations with Qatar and accused Doha of supporting terrorism and cooperation with Iran.
