  • Once in while, orange snow turns Europe into Mars;
  • This time not only Crete has been taken by Martians, but also Russia, Romania, Bulgaria, Ukraine;
  • The reason why the red snow is so strange is Sahara Desert sand being carried into the atmosphere;
  • Earlier this year, Sahara Desert was covered with snow, which is also a rare phenomenon;

Mars, is it you? 

A wave of dust and sand hit the Greek island of Crete in the Mediterranean Sea that came from the coast of North Africa.

Such freak weather conditions have turned Crete landscape look like it’s Mars or some scenes from the Mad Max movie.

Many residents had problems with breathing and need medical help.

Schools and some institutions are closed.

Strong winds also caused problems for the emergency services on Wednesday night as they exacerbated dozens of wildfires which broke out amid unseasonably high temperatures.
