RIP, Pernell Whitaker: Olympic Gold Medal-Winning Boxer Dies at 55 In Car Accident

The famous boxer Pernell Whitaker, 55, has died after being hit by a car in Virginia.
“I’m still trying to process everything that’s going on. But he was a cool guy,” Devon, Whitaker’s youngest son, told PEOPLE.
“I guess he was wearing dark clothes, the road was dark and the driver didn’t see him.”
He was famous for representing the US in the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, winning the gold medal as the result.
