Dobby’s always in our memory
Every year, J.K. Rowling takes courage to apologize for the death of one of our beloved characters, who tragically died in the Battle of Hogwarts.
In 2016, Lupin.
Once again, it's the anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts so, as promised, I shall apologise for a death. This year: Remus Lupin.

This time, in 2018, it was Dobby, a little house elf. The interesting fact is that Dobby hasn’t taken part in the Battle of Hogwarts.
It's that anniversary again. This year, I apologise for killing someone who didn't die during the #BattleofHogwarts, but who laid down his life to save the people who'd win it. I refer, of course, to Dobby the house elf.

A little about the little elf

- His first and last words were ‘Harry Potter’. Dobby’s first phrase in the book was, “Harry Potter must not go back to Hogwarts”, and his last words before the death were, “Dobby is happy to be with his friend, Harry Potter’;
- The happiest thing happened to Dobby was a gift of a sock, that gave him freedom;
- He told Harry Potter about the Room of Requirement, the room where Harry retrieved the lost diadem. Also, it was a place where Potter trained Dumbledore’s Army;
- Dobby actually asked for smaller salary at Hogwarts! Dumbledore offered him 10 galleons a week and weekends off, but the elf asked only for one 1 galleon a week and 1 day off a month;
- He was a close friend of Aberforth Dumbledore, who was the one who sent Dobby to rescue Harry and his friends from Malfoy Manor;
- Dobby has one more close friend – Winky, the house-elf of Barty Crouch Senior, and didn’t want to be freed. After Crouch let her go, she fell into depression and started drinking Butterbeer. However, Dobby never let her down and supported her to the end.
