‘Replicas’ Review: Reasons Why Keanu Reeves Sci-Fi Movie Is A Mess That Will Leave You Frustrated and Disappointed

The fresh premiere of the futuristic thriller featuring Keanu Reeves is coming to theaters and Nexter.org has prepared for you a review about this movie.

What the movie is about

In Replicas, Keanu Reeves plays neuro-scientist William Foster, who is on the verge of successfully transferring human consciousness into a computer when his family (including wife Mona, played by Alice Eve) is killed in a car crash.

Desperate to resurrect his family, William recruits fellow scientist Ed Whittle (Thomas Middleditch) to help him secretly clone their bodies and create replicas. William ultimately faces a “Sophie’s Choice” when it turns out that they can only bring three of the four family members back to life.

Actually, the whole movie is based on Keanu Reeves who is, by the way, is also a producer.

Reeves is a great actor and we all remember his iconic roles but watching his unchangeable face expressions was sometimes ridiculous.

His wife is played by charming Alice Eve, also Thomas Middleditch, John Ortiz and Emily Alyn Lind are in the movie.

Weird moments and fails

Well, on our personal opinion the movie is worth watching only in case you don’t expect something really great.

First of all, we see lots of the cliche scenes just like where William use those futuristic transparent holograms instead of a computer screen and ending with the questions about human’s soul (which were left unanswered, by the way).

Also, it was hard to understand William’s reaction to the death of his family. He seems to be unemotional and obsessed at the same time with the idea of cloning them. He asks his friend to hide the dead bodies but these scenes weren’t shown to the view and that was never discussed by two men.

Sounds creepy.

Also, William has not four but only three cloning tanks so now he has to make the hardest life choice. Honesty, that moment didn’t touch me at all.

Actually, the movie is not that bad but still a mess. It tried to open many important questions about human’s soul, the future of the technology, cloning and using tech military purposes but lin the end it leaves you frustrated and disappointed.

Still, if you’re bored and don’t know how to spend your Saturday evening then go ahead and watch ‘Replicas’ in theaters starting from January 11.
