51st state

According to USA TODAY, a group of people led by Tom Reed is seeking to become a separate part of the state.

As a part of the idea, “New Californians” wants to take over the biggest part of the state and leave behind coastal rural countries.

However, New California won’t become an independent state in the near future. It might happen at the end of this year or in the next ones. To be precise, it might take from 10 to 18 months.

“We have to demonstrate that we can govern ourselves before we are allowed to govern,” Tom Reed explained the reasons for the delay.

The new map of the state will look like that:

Reasons

The group of people, also known as the founders of New California, published online a document, declaring that California is governed “by a tyranny”.

They named California as an ungovernable state that suffered “years of over taxation, regulation, and mono-party politics” and claimed to bring “civic betterment and social improvements.

Nexter.org will follow the story and come back with updates.
