Wedding as a religious mash-up

The wedding was celebrated in two styles: Western ceremony and the Hindu ceremony. The couple just released some photos from both ceremonies unveiling stunning Bollywood star’s dresses.

“I love that our wedding was a religious mash-up,” Chopra told People. “We took beautiful traditions that we both grew up with and personalised them in a way that made sense for us. It’s been incredible to find the commonalities between our beliefs and figuring out how to blend them in a respectful and meaningful way,” she said.

The idea was to show how well two cultures go together if the couple is in love.

Two weddings dresses

Surely, Priyanka Chopra has two wedding dresses for two ceremonies to relate to the mood of each culture. For the Western-style wedding, Chopra wore Ralph Lauren gown made up of thousands of Swarovski crystals and sequins with 75-ft long wedding veil.

Also, Ralph Lauren designed in his life 4 wedding dresses – for his daughter, daughter-in-law, niece, and Priyanka Chopra.

If you watch the video, you can actually see a band of men carrying it for her:

Vogue got it all together and helped to figure out the wedding in numbers:

  • 75-ft long veil;
  • 6 people who had to carry the veil;
  • 1,826 hours it took to make the dress;
  • 135 satin covered buttons on the dress
  • 2,380,000 pearl sequins;

The fans couldn’t let go the length of the veil and had a lot to joke about. Here are some of the hilarious posts:

The Sabyasachi lehenga

For the Hindu ceremony, Priyanka Chopra asked Indian designer Sabyasachi to make her special lehenga. It’s a bright red gown with “hand-cut organza flowers, French knots in silk floss, and layers of thread work.”

“I always knew I wanted a red traditional silhouette for my wedding but Sabya brought in incredible French embroidery to the mix and with incredible jewellery and Western-inspired veil it was just such an amalgamation of who I am,” Chopra told People.

And again, Vogue did its best to calculate what was need to make this lehenga:

  • 3,720 hours to make the lehenga;
  • 110 embroiderers to work on it;
  • 22 carats of gold Chopra’s jewellery;
  • 84.50 carats in Chopra’s diamond jewellery necklace;
