Seine reaches highest level
The river water level hit its highest mark in a century. Unfortunately, the forecasts warn it could reach 20 feet by Sunday. To compare, the normal level of Seine is 6-7 feet, which makes it 3 times its height under normal circumstances.
Back in 1910, the water reached 28 feet and the highest warning level. For now, we do hope that it won’t overflow more than in 1910.
Louvre museum along with river cruises and water taxis are shut down for now. The mayor, Anne Hidalgo, said the situation was serious but not catastrophic.Â
