649 prepared for you a weekly dose of new movie releases, fresh trailers and announcements you might have missed this week.

‘Pokémon: Detective Pikachu’ premiere

Pokémon: Detective Pikachu starring Ryan Reynolds will hit the theaters on May 10, 2019, and will unveil an original story about a boy meeting rather unusual detective and a bunch of mysteries.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the film movie has a 71% approval rating based on 68 reviews, with an average rating of 6.22 out of 10.

The website reads, “Pokémon Detective Pikachu may not take its wonderfully bizarre premise as far as it could have, but this offbeat adaptation should catch most — if not all — of the franchise’s fans.”

‘Tolkien’ premiere

The movie explores the formative years of the renowned author’s life as he finds friendship, courage and inspiration among a fellow group of writers and artists at school.

Their brotherhood strengthens as they grow up and whether love and loss together, including Tolkien’s tumultuous courtship of his beloved Edith Bratt, until the outbreak of the First World War which threatens to tear their fellowship apart. All of these experiences would later inspire Tolkien to write his famous Middle-earth novels.

‘The Hustle’ premiere

Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson star as female scam artists, one low rent and the other high class, who team up to take down the men who have wronged them.

HBO’s ‘Watchmen’ trailer

Watchmen is a 2009 American neo-noir superhero film directed by Zack Snyder, based on the 1986–87 DC Comics limited series of the same name by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons.

With a gang of vigilantes wearing Rorschach masks, the new series seems to be based around the return of superheroes–and the ensuing, potentially-apocalyptic, chaos that happens when gods from the past come back to our society.

‘It: Chapter 2’ first trailer

‘It Chapter Two’ is the follow up to 2017’s ‘It’, and is also based on the Stephen King novel of the same name.

The Losers’ Club returns in Chapter Two — but this time they’re all grown up. The sequel sports a stellar (and very on-point) cast, with James McAvoy as Bill, Jessica Chastain as Beverley, Jay Ryan as Ben, Bill Hader as Richie, Isaiah Mustafa as Mike, James Ransone as Eddie, and Andy Bean as Stan. Bill Skarsgård returns as Pennywise the Clown.

The time has come for Pennywise and The Losers’ Club to face off again in Derry, 27 years later.

Jonas Brothers drop a trailer for their upcoming documentary

The documentary, titled Chasing Happiness, will premiere on Prime Video on June 4. Fans are already getting emotional over the trailer, which expands on the band’s breakup and recent comeback.
