Nexter.org prepared for you a weekly dose of new movie releases, fresh trailers and announcements you might have missed this week.

‘Shazam!’ premiere

Shazam! is an upcoming superhero movie by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Shazam! can be called a brand new start for the DCEU that tries to split from Dark Knight,  Suicide Squad and Justice League.

We used to DC movies that are all about the villains and the defense of the Earth, however, this one is more about the meaning of a true family.

‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’ Season 2 premiere

On 3 December, Netflix dropped the first glimpse at the next installment of Sabrina’s story, which showed the teenage witch with shorter, blonder hair, wearing all black, and getting up to all sorts of magical things.

Romantically, Sabrina is caught in an unholy love triangle with between sexy warlock Nicholas Scratch and salt-of-the-Earth mortal Harvey Kinkle.

The new season drops April 5.

‘Joker’ trailer

The first trailer for Joker, starring Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur, a troubled man who develops into an obsessive criminal, depicts a dark, disturbing portrait of the iconic villain. The trailer mostly shows Arthur without makeup, and the scenes where he’s in makeup seem to take place before he’s wholly committed to the Joker shtick.

‘The Dead Don’t Die’ trailer

Bill Murray, Adam Driver, and Chloe Sevigny are bespectacled — and deadpan — small-town sheriff’s deputies battling an army of zombies in the first trailer for Jim Jarmusch’s “The Dead Don’t Die.”

“In this peaceful town, on these quiet streets, something terrifying, something horrifying is coming,” a voiceover intones, followed by the town’s cafe getting invaded by the undead.

Mark Hamill will voice Chucky in upcoming Child’s Play remake

The Star Wars star made the announcement at Wondercon via a short clip which he later shared online. Hamill said he “can’t wait to bring such an iconic character to life.” The film is set for a June 21 release.

Priyanka Chopra to join Marvel Cinematic Universe

Priyanka Chopra fans are in for a good news as the latest hearsay suggests that the global icon might be hopping onboard the Marvel universe.

While the earlier buzz had reported that the 36-year-old Quantico star will be starring as the Muslim comic book superhero Kamala Khan, now the reports are afloat once again as they reveal that Mrs. Jonas will be starring in a Marvel movie, details of which have not yet been revealed.

Prequel

The series, aptly titled Pennyworth, will focus on Bruce Wayne’s long-suffering butler, friend, and companion, Alfred and it’s going to look at his past (I think these things are usually called an origin story, but he’s a butler for Christ’s sake, not a mutant).

While the teaser doesn’t give much away it certainly looks like Alfred was a busy man before he took on the role of looking after Wayne manor.

Hugh Jackman has confirmed that work has begun on a sequel to The Greatest Showman.

Speaking to the Sun, the movie’s director Michael Gracey confirmed that he and Jackman had initiated the process, saying: “When a movie becomes as big a success as this, it’s only natural there is demand for a sequel.

“So those discussions have started and we are working on one right now.”
