Nexter.org gathered everything you need to know about this hot event.

When and where?

The 34th show, like the first show (which was hosted by Dan Aykroyd and Bette Midler) will take place at Radio City Hall in New York.

Who’s nominated?

Cardi B will open the show and is leads in the Moonman race with ten nominations. It’s been an eventful year for the rapper dominating the charts, dropping her album “Invasion of Privacy” in March, and then becoming a new mother this summer.

Beyonce and Jay-Z, performing together as The Carters, claim the second most nominations of the 2018 VMAs, with eight, thanks to their surprise album “Everything is Love.” Their arresting video for “APES**T,” set in the Louvre, is nominated for video of the year.

The other video of the year nominees are Ariana Grande, Cardi B and Bruno Mars, Childish Gambino, Drake and Young Thug and Camila Cabello. Drake and Gambino claimed seven nominations each, while Mars got six.

Ariana Grande, Mars, Cabello, Cardi, Drake, and Post Malone are all in the running for artist of the year. You can read the full list of the nominees here.

Jennifer Lopez is being honored with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. Previous winners include Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé, Kanye West, Madonna and Pink. Lopez will also take the stage to perform – a first at the show since 2001. The singer is nominated in two VMA categories for her new single “Dinero.”

Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes, Travis Scott, Post Malone, Jennifer Lopez, Travis Scott, Shawn Mendes, Logic and Ryan Tedder, Panic! At the Disco and Nicki Minaj are some of the other scheduled performers. Though MTV hasn’t made any official announcements on a tribute to Aretha Franklin, it seems likely the Queen of Soul will be honored in some way.

Who’s hosting?

When it comes to this show, expect the unexpected. New mother Cardi B isn’t scheduled to perform at the VMAs, but she will open the show, which has no formal host this year.

How to watch

The show will air live on MTV at 9 pm EST/6 pm PST. The awards will air live on both coasts. You can also watch on the MTV website or app.
