Nowadays, it seems like people finally don’t hate some particular music genres as much as they used to. Yet some songs’ performers think that you are listening to trash. And they are saying it about their own songs.

Nexter.org prepared you a list of 9 musicians who hate their hits.

Miley Cyrus – Wrecking Ball

It might come as a big surprise but Miley actually hates the music video for this song. In an interview on the Zach Sang Show she said:

“I’m never living that down. I will always be the naked girl on a wrecking ball, no matter how much I frolic with emu, I’m always the naked girl on the wrecking ball.”

Later Cyrus also mentioned that she is really scared that this song is gonna be playing at her funeral.

Everyone who knows this band also knows that Kurt Cobain hated their most famous song. But do you know why? Kurt said in more than one interview, that it is because he ripped it off. He was just trying to write a song that would sound like The Pixies. He also mentioned that it was “almost an embarrassment to play.”

John Lennon – Let It Be

The man who is so commonly associated with love was not that good of a man. He beat his son. He forced his wife to go to the bathroom with him when he was going “number two”. And he also hated “Let It Be.” Lennon said he didn’t know what Paul McCartney was thinking when he wrote it and called it a knockoff of “Bridge Over Troubled Waters.”

Radiohead – Creep

Even people who don’t listen to Radiohead like their song “Creep.” But Thom Yorke, Radiohead frontman, just calls this song “Crap.” You’ll never hear them playing this song live anymore. Oh and moreover, Tom calls fans who like the song, quote, “an*lly retarded.”

Frank Sinatra – Strangers In The Night

Everybody in the whole world loves this song, it was a No. 1 chart-topper in the U.S. and the U.K. But Sinatra completely despised it and even verbally abused the song on stage. Here are some things he said:

“This is a song that I absolutely detested the first time I heard it. And strangely enough, I keep saying to myself ‘Why are you still singing this song?'”

“Yeah, here’s a song that I cannot stand. I just cannot stand this song, but what the hell.”

“Here’s a song, the first time I heard Don Costa played it for me some years ago. I hated it. … And I still hate it! So sue me, shoot bullets through me. Shoot.”

Led Zeppelin – Stairway To Heaven

As Wayne Campbell said, “No ‘Stairway.’ Denied.”

Robert Plant actually said that he would really rather play anything else besides “Stairway To Heaven.” He even paid $1,000 to a radio station so they promise never to play it again.

Oasis – Wonderwall

“Wonderwall” is a sweet song that, according to Liam Gallagher, makes him gag. Noah Gallagher once said that it was actually not about his recent ex-wife and media “took away” the real meaning. And then the brothers went back to insulting one another via a reporter.

Berlin – Take My Breath Away

Some ex-members of Berlin not only hate their song but also blame it for breaking up the band.

Terri Nunn, the lead singer of Berlin in a 2016 interview with Australia’s ABC News, said that when the song hit No. 1 in the U.S., U.K., and Australia, it made the musicians be together 24 hours a day during tours and recordings and they just couldn’t stand each other anymore.

Pulp – Common People

The drummer of Pulp Nick Banks hated the band’s biggest hit “Common People.” He said it was “a bit of a tuneless dirge” and that the original demo was a “load of rubbish.” And well, their less popular song “Like A Friend” was way better.

Which one was more surprising to you?
