There’s an outlandish conspiracy theory floating around that first lady Melania Trump is really a Russian spy. As “evidence,” internet commenters pointed to a chat she’d had with Russian President Vladimir Putin at a dinner for last year’s G-20 Summit.

While Trump doesn’t speak Russian, she does know English, French, German, Italian, and Serbian, in addition to her native Slovenian — more languages than any previous American first lady.

Many saw her engaged in conversation at dinner with Putin, and reports described the two as friendly during the meal.

But there is no proof that Trump and Putin have had any other interaction, and no reason to think she has performed any work as a Russian spy beyond the occasional satire piece.

Rumor Melania Trump lives at a separate house in DC with her parents and her son, Barron is spreading fast despite the White House denies it.

Her staff told The Washington Post on Sunday this rumor is “1,000% false.” Trump’s spokeswoman, Stephanie Grisham, said, “We laugh at it all the time.” White House social secretary Rickie Niceta Lloyd called the rumor “an urban legend.”

Trump took longer than usual to move to the White House after her husband took office, spending the first five months of his presidency in New York City while Barron finished school in Manhattan. In June 2017, the mother and son finally moved to the White House, and Barron started attending St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Potomac, Maryland, in the fall.

The theory first sprang to life when some thought Trump had been replaced by a look-alike for a public appearance, and continued when she was pictured alongside a Secret Service agent with similar hair and complexion.

This rumor has been vehemently denied by her spokeswoman, Stephanie Grisham, but that didn’t stop the internet from going ablaze.

Since the footage was circulated, various people have argued that this actually wasn’t Melania that was standing beside him but rather a body double.

Some think she spends little to no time with her husband

While this is more of a well-cited description, the first lady’s marriage is never far from the realm of speculation.

Trump’s life inside the White House reportedly includes very little time in the West Wing with her husband, a claim her staff attributes to the couple’s independently busy schedules.

The two do appear at official events for each other, and are frequently photographed together.

Spokeswoman Grisham said Trump is primarily focused on being a mom, a wife, and the first lady. “The rest is just noise,” she said.

Sign of the Devil

Some believe that Prince Harry met with First Lady Melania Trump and inexplicably made the sign of the devil to ward off evil. Internet citizens were quick to notice that, when posing awkwardly next to the First Lady, Harry tucked his two middle fingers into his jacket and held them there for, like, 16 seconds. Of course, soon after that Twitter users started to figure out what Prince Harry tried to tell us…
