In July 2018 it was reported that a 12-year-old girl was found hanged in the backyard of her family’s home in the town of Ingeniero Maschwitz, 48 kilometers from Buenos Aires Aires City, in the Escobar district of Buenos Aires province.

Authorities are investigating whether she was motivated to take her own life because of the Momo Game.

Police at the time said in a statement: “The phone has been hacked to find footage and WhatsApp chats, and now the alleged adolescent with whom she exchanged those messages is being sought.”

Two victims in Colombia

A 12-year-old girl and 16-year-old boy in Colombia were reported to have killed themselves after playing the suicide challenge game on WhatsApp.

The deaths happened within the space of just 48 hours in the municipality of Barbosa, in the north west Colombian area of Santander.

Local media reported that the body of the 16-year-old boy was found first and that it is believed he knew the 12-year-old girl.

He reportedly passed the game Momo game onto her before his death.

The dad of a 14-year-old boy reported killed himself filed a complaint against WhatsApp and YouTube after the death was linked to the Momo Challenge.

The boy was found dead in his room after hanging himself.

According to Le Monde, his family said he had been “trapped in the Momo Challenge”

The boy’s dad René Gattino said that on his son’s Facebook page he had taken a picture of Momo and carried out a Google search about it.

A three-year-old girl has uttered terrifying words to her mum after being asked about the sick Momo challenge. Little Adaline Becerra was asked, “Baby Addy, who is Momo?”, by her worried mother, Bianca, as they watched TV together.

And her response left Bianca’s heart racing. “She looks at me with her eyes really big and says, ‘She is the scary lady with big eyes and black hair’,” the mum told Mirror Online.

“I ask my daughter ‘Addy what does Momo say to you?’

“My daughter’s response was, ‘Mommy she wants your princess to hurt herself, she wants me to go in the garbage’.

And I ask her again, ‘what else does she say’? And she told me that ‘Momo wants me to jump from the high slide and hurt myself’.”

Adaline, who could be the challenge’s youngest victim, made the alarming comments earlier this week at her home in Florida, US.

Manish Sarki (18) on August 20 and Aditi Goyal (26) the next day killed themselves in India. Police suspect that both of them were into the online killer game which led them to take the ultimate step.

“It is a growing menace and we are getting reports of an increasing number of people, mostly youths, getting an invitation on their WhatsApp from unidentified numbers to play the ‘game’,” the official said. Preliminary investigation has revealed that people who have shown the slightest sign of depression or a desire to commit suicide were targeted.

Lyn Dixon’s eight-year-old son, from Edinburgh, said the game encourages children to harm themselves.

She said: ‘He showed me an image of the face on my phone and said that she had told him to go into the kitchen drawer and take out a knife and put it into his neck. We’ve told him it’s a load of rubbish and there are bad people out there who do bad things but it’s frightening, really frightening.’

There have been no reported deaths in the UK although parents have reported their children being told to harm themselves or singing ‘The Momo Song’.
