In a nutshell

Houston, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, and Sacramento residents will be able to experience first carrier – Verizon.

“The world’s first commercial service is here,” said Ronan Dunne, President, Verizon Wireless. “We’ve formed incredible partnerships with many of the world’s leading technology companies, the international technical standards bodies, public officials, developers and our own customers to drive the ecosystem forward, faster than most had predicted. And now, actual customers. It’s been an incredible journey…and we’re just at the starting line.”

It will cost $50 a month for existing Verizon Wireless customers, and $70 for non-Verizon customers.

Perks of being “First on ” members

Those, who will be the first ones to get technology, get a lot of perks:

  • Home service free for the first three months;
  • Free white glove installation and equipment;
  • Early access to new services, including mobility;
  • Free YouTube TV for the first three months;
  • Free Apple TV 4K or Google Chromecast Ultra device at installation.

Is it real ?

Verizon’s home broadband service was launched on Monday, but, actually, you’ll probably not be able to experience it until 2019. Why? Because Verizon didn’t care to mention that its home broadband is the first carrier to .

“Verizon says, ‘there’s & then there’s Verizon ’ – What they mean is Verizon * is available… in tiny pockets of neighborhoods… if you don’t have trees nearby… or appliances in your house… or walls…,” T-Mobile CEO John Legere tweeted.

Ed Chan, Verizon’s chief technology architect, defended the product and stated that they are serious about it.
