A great number of users of the pic-sharing app became the victims of a new Instagram update – the company changed timeline feature from its comfortable vertical scroll to a horizontal feed.

Alex Heath wrote on Twitter “I have the new Instagram horizontal scroll interface. I’m sure this will not be met with any backlash WHATSOEVER. But seems maybe intended to reduce mindless vertical scrolling?”

The head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, says on Twitter “Sorry about that, this was supposed to be a very small test but we went broader than we anticipated.”

It means that the horizontal scrolling timeline was supposed to be a small test, however, people who got affected made it clear that literally, no one likes the update.

The idea was to make users tap on the screen to see one post at a time just like they do it with stories. Later Instagram apologized vie Mashable for the accident “Due to a bug, some users saw a change to the way their feed appears today. We quickly fixed the issue and feed is back to normal. We apologize for any confusion.”.
