1761 Distracted boyfriend

The popular when a boyfriend looks at one woman while holding hands with his girlfriend was one of the most popular memes last year.

A 1761 painting by English artist Joshua Reynolds seems to be an 18th-century equivalent of the distracted boyfriend :

Twitter users didn’t waste their time and made a bunch of new memes from 1761 painting. See one of the examples below:

1921 Judge Magazine illustrations

This illustration from Judge Magazine, 1921, might be one of the first memes ever created. The drawing compares how one thinks they look in a photo taken with a flash and how they actually look.

The idea resembles ‘If You Don’t Love Me At’ : an ugly pic of you on the left side, and the handsome one on the right.

Lolcat dated 1911

Lolcats are a series of images consisting of hilarious photos of cats with funny text written with mistakes. Intentionally.

Eulalie Osgood Grover was a long time before first creators. In 1911, Grover wrote the school book, Kittens, and Cats: a Book of Tales, using an innovative tool for teaching tools.

Her idea was to use talking kittens as a way to teach kids. But, as a result, she got a bunch of hilarious pics with funny text written under them.
