How To Make Your Bedroom Feel Like A Luxury Hotel

There’s nothing quite like going to stay in a luxury hotel. The bed feels softer, there’s people to wait on you, and everything just feels more elegant. And while you may be happy when you get back home, you probably wish you could bring some of that comfort back with you. Well, with a few changes to your bedroom, you can make it feel more like a luxury hotel. So whether you’re looking to furnish your first apartment or make some upgrades to you a bedroom you’ve had a long time, here are a few suggestions on how you can do it, all while staying within a budget.

Get a New Mattress

The first thing you’ll want to do is get a new mattress. You spend a third of your days sleeping, so you might as well do it in comfort. If your current bed is too small, get yourself a bigger one. If it’s not comfortable enough, and you find yourself tossing and turning all night, get a better one. Each person needs their own kind of mattress, so find one that works for you. Some people like to sleep on a soft foam mattress, while others want something firmer. Try out some different kinds at a local mattress store and then either buy one you like there, or buy a mattress online.

Upgrade the Sheets and Pillows

While you’re upgrading your mattress, spend some time improving the other parts of your bed. Spending all that money on a new mattress will go to waste if you have uncomfortable pillows or the sheets are scratchy. Now is the perfect time to get yourself a better pillow and some sheets with a higher thread count. Just like you deserve to sleep on a comfortable mattress, you also deserve to sleep in a bed that makes you happy. If there’s any part of your bedroom that you’re going to spend money on, make it the bed.

Change the Lighting

A great thing you can do to make your bedroom feel more like a luxury hotel is change the lighting. If your bedroom currently has harsh lighting, you’ll likely find that it’s not a very comfortable place. Consider either swapping out for a different kind of bulb, or going with different kinds of lights altogether.

You should also explore your natural light options. See if you can find ways to bring in more light from outside, such as bigger windows, a lighter color of blinds or curtains, or even installing more windows or a skylight. Natural light will not only improve the feel of the room, but it will save you some money on energy costs as well.

Replace the Flooring

You may not realize it, but your floors play a large role in how comfortable your room is. For instance, if you get out of bed in the morning and place your bare feet on cold hardwood floors, it’s not a fun experience. A better option would be some plush carpeting that is soft to walk on.

If you don’t want to go with carperting, consider getting heated floors. Heated floors may seem like an extravagance you don’t need, but once you try them out, you’ll wonder why you didn’t get them sooner. Besides, your goal is to make your bedroom more like a luxury hotel after all, and nothing says luxury like heated floors.

Add in Some Tech

Next, consider making a few tech upgrades to your bedroom. When ever you go into a luxury hotel rooms these days, there is always a big flat screen TV mounted on the wall. If you want a television in your bedroom, consider upgrading it to a nicer model.

For those of you who don’t want a television in the bedroom, there are other ways to add some tech upgrades. As an example, you could get a home voice assistant, like Amazon’s Echo or Google Home. With these, and a few extra attachments, you could turn on your coffee pot without even having to get out of bed. Another option is to add in a speaker system, so that you can play some relaxing music when you want to wind down at night. There’s plenty of tech upgrades you can make on a budget, it all depends on what you’re looking for.

Keep it Clean and Organized

Finally, one of the best things about luxury hotels is how clean they are. You don’t have to worry about making your bed, or picking up after yourself, because someone will come in and do that for you. Unfortunately, unless you’re willing to hire a cleaning service, this part will be hard to replicate at home. However, that doesn’t mean it’s impossible.

The key is changing your habits. Make it a habit to fix your bed first thing in the morning. That way when you come home from work, your bed is already made and it’s like walking into a clean hotel room. You should also work to improve the organizational system within your bedroom. Get rid of any clutter and make sure everything has a proper place. It’s hard for a bedroom to feel like a luxury hotel when it’s disorganized and messy.

Lastly, if you have kids, feel free to get them involved. For instance, you could pay them an allowance to vacuum the house each week – including your bedroom. Now you don’t have to worry about it, and you’re one step closer to that luxury hotel feeling, all while teaching your kids some responsibility.

Bring Luxury Home With You

Just because you can’t afford to stay in a luxury hotel room every night doesn’t mean you can’t feel like you are. With a few simple changes and upgrades you can bring some of that comfort back to your own bedroom. Take some time to think about what it is you love about staying in a luxury hotel – the soft bed, the the nice TV, the cleaning service – then find a way to bring some of that home. It’ll take a little bit of work and money, but if the end result is that you’re happier inside your bedroom, then it’s well worth it.
