How Did Studying Help Celebrities Become Famous?

132

Mention names like Harry Styles, John Legend, or Adele to any group of college students—you will be surprised by the numerous conversations that will arise. It’s no secret; every learner has their go-to musician for entertaining and motivational music for studying.

But, mention a name like VN Parthiban. And, a majority of the students will have no clue of whom or what you are talking about. Let me share a little info about Parthiban.

Surprisingly this guy, VN Parthiban, is a professor with a mountainous collection of degrees. In 30 years, he garnered a pile of a whopping 145 academic degrees. This scholar should be every student’s icon, right? But that is not the case. You know why?

Generally, no one likes to struggle. Imagine having to study not one, not two but 145 different degrees. Think about it, how many exams did he have to sit for? No one wants that life. Everyone desires easy success without spending much efforts on it. People like those who use  https://writingpeak.co.uk/plagiarism-checker or other writing services and do not dive deeply into studying. That is why the society adores celebrities because people think that these icons did not have to study or struggle that much.

Unfortunately, they are wrong. Let’s start here: what does celebrity mean? A celebrity is a star, especially in the entertainment industry. A lot of people think that celebs gain their superstar status mainly because of their talent. But that’s not entirely it.

A majority of the celebrities admit that the impact of education in their life is unparalleled. The fame and money were not wholly attributed to talents and looks, or mere luck; college had its share too. Below is a sample of such celebs.

 Mayim Hoya Bialik

Did you know that the Big Bang Theory star Mayim Bialik is a real-life neuroscientist? This female American actress started off as a child actress but took a break from her acting career to complete her studies. She joined the University of California (although she had been accepted to both Yale and Harvard) where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience, Hebrew and Jewish studies in 2000. As if that was not enough, Bialik went on to earn her Ph.D. in neuroscience in 2007 from the same university.

Lupita Nyong’o

This famous Kenyan-Mexican actress has a bachelor’s in film and theater studies from Hampshire College and a Masters from Yale. It was after her gaining her master’s degree that she landed the role “Patsey” in the movie “12 Years a Slave” which saw her rise to fame.

James Franco

Perhaps James initially thought that talent was the surefire path to success. He dropped out of the University of California, LA to concentrate on his acting career. Unfortunately, his career didn’t pick as he had hoped it would. So, he re-enrolled back to the university with a lot of determination to boost his career. James broke the record when he completed his bachelor’s in English in just two years. After that, he got a master’s from Columbia College and had since collected several other degrees.

Carrie Underwood

Want a list of names of celebrities starting with С, Carrie Underwood is definitely one of them. She earned her fame after winning the fourth season of American Idol. The fame did not stop her from completing her college studies. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Mass communication from Northeastern State University.

Shaquille O’Neal

Shaq, a now-retired NBA star, is regarded as one of the most dominant sports icons in history. The super talented player broke the records by being the only NBA player with a Master’s in Business Administration from Louisiana State University.

Talk of crazy students: O’Neal wore an XXXXL- sized graduation gown as he went to receive his doctorate in education from Barry University. He further entertained his fellow students by lifting his professor up into the air in celebration of his achievement. When asked what motivated him to study on while he seemed to have already made it, Dr. O’Neal said that he was driven by his passion for education and the need to challenge his abilities.

It is true that some people become famous merely because they have connections to other celebrities. But for the majority fame was never an overnight thing—it was an uphill journey. There is always the back story that celebrities rarely share. So, as a student, it is important that you work hard and make the best of your college life. And remember, second chances are hard to come by.
