Exposure and consumption
Holland is only 22 years old, but he has already influenced thousands of Koreans as he’s first openly gay K-Pop singer, trying to change attitudes towards homosexuality in South Korea.
‘It’s going to take homosexuality coming out of the water,’ he told Metro.co.uk. ‘A lot of exposure and consumption. And a lot of people have to say it’s not wrong.

“Culture is the most powerful weapon”
It’s probably hard to live, improve your skills and make your dreams come true when you’ve risen in the country that is against everything that you are. However, Holland doesn’t give up, and isn’t afraid to tell the world who he really is.
‘I think culture is the most powerful weapon. Korea is also hard to survive in as a gay entertainer. I think Korea should develop more culturally.’

BTS fan
BTS is also known as the Bangtan Boys, is a seven-member South Korean boy band formed by Big Hit Entertainment. The members are Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook.
Holland is the fan of this band, ‘I especially like V and Jimin. It’s like catching the world’s most fashionable things and turning them into K-pop. It’s a great thing’.
Also, he’s into British music, ‘I love British bands so much. I really like Nothing But Thieves and Harry Styles’ album is the best.’

“I’m Not Afraid” music video
Recently, Holland has released new “I’m Not Afraid” music video, but YouTube has given it an age restriction. That’s why he addressed his admirers: ‘My fans, listen up, you know, if you saw my music video, Race, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity It’s individual difference and there should never be any discrimination in it. I’m sorry, hate criminals can’t be my fans.’
Fortunately, YouTube admitted the mistake and removed the restriction, so now people of any age can see Holland’s music video.
Battle with YouTube
Though the problem was solved, it’s still hard to admit that YouTube – the platform with no boundaries for art – has limited Holland’s video.
‘I never imagined that my music video would have an age limit on YouTube,’ he said. ‘I thought YouTube was a very open medium. I think there are many other music videos that are sexually appealing. I’m so upset.’
