Famous Hollywood producer who has been involved in the production of 20 films nominated for Oscar, with legendary Pulp Fiction (1994), The English Patient (1996), The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2004) among them, this time is accused of numerous rape and sexual harassments.

As a result, he has already resigned from Weinstein Co. board, the company founded by him and his brother Bob.

What will happen with Weinstein’s projects?

The New York Times published an article in which it claimed, with reference to the results of its own investigation, that Weinstein forced actresses and other employees of Miramax Films and The Weinstein Company to have sex, promising them help in their careers.

Such situations caused conversations about selling The Weinstein Company to Colony Capital. The leadership role of Bob Weinstein, Harvey’s brother,  in the company is still under the question.

Anyway, Bob Weinstein released a report saying that “the company or board is not exploring a sale or shutdown.” While he specifically named films like Paddington 2 and the Robert De Niro vehicle War with Grandpa, The Current War was left out of his remarks.

The Current War movie with Benedict Cumberbatch as Thomas Edison was planned for November 2017. However, it has been shelved back to 2018.

“I am utterly disgusted by the continuing revelations of Harvey Weinstein’s horrifying and unforgivable actions,” the actor said. “We need to collectively stand up and support victims of abuse such as the brave and inspiring women who have spoken out against him and say we hear you and believe you. There has to be zero tolerance of any such behavior in any walk of life. We owe that to these women’s bravery in coming forward.”

Due to the scandal, the drama series by David O. Russell starring with Robert De Niro and Julianne Moore lost its project owner Amazon. The reason is that the series was produced by The Weinstein Company.

 Nothing stays buried forever

Many celebrities made statements to demonstrate the disapproval of such sexual harassment and assault. One of them was Channing Tatum. He claimed he won’t work with the Weinstein Company ever again.

“This is a giant opportunity for real positive change that we proudly commit ourselves to”, – he added.

More than a dozen women — including actresses like Rose McGowan, Ashley Judd, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Angelina Jolie — have stepped forward, saying that Weinstein either sexually harassed or sexually assaulted them. The backlash has been swift; everyone from Meryl Streep to George Clooney to Viola Davis has condemned Weinstein, as have Hillary Clinton and theObamas, both of whom received donations from Weinstein in the past.

#MeToo – this hashtag thousands of women around the world now write on Twitter. They share their stories of how they became victims of sexual abuse or harassment. The flash started after post of actress Alyssa Milano.

TMZ reports that Harvey Weinstein went for a sex-addiction rehabilitation center in Europe, despite has denied having non-consensual sex with anyone.
