What’s Groundhog Day?

It’s a tradition of an animal, a groundhog, to see or not to see its shadow. Depending on the result, people make their weather predictions.

The club responsible for well-known groundhog Phil is entitled “The Inner Circle” It has 16 members, including Phil, that has their own unique nicknames, chosen basing of the profession of the members of weather phenomena.

How accurate Groundhog’s predictions are?

Looking back in 2017, Punxsutawney Phil the Groundhog predicted 6 more weeks of winter.

And it was completely wrong! An “early spring” has come in 2017 with the temperatures in February 5.3 degrees warmer than usual.

On the contrast, both Stormy Marmot and Poor Richard predicted warm weather and short winter.

So, it’s actually not that bad – 50/50. But still, it isn’t worth believing those animals and their predictions. Better look for the trustworthy weather forecast website.

However, as a tradition, Groundhog Day is a very valuable holiday and the day everyone is waiting for in 2018.
