Is it a movie about a superhero?

Can ‘Glass’ be considered a superhero movie? Surely, this is a film of a superhero genre in some way. However, the characters are not the superheroes that we used to see in Marvel movies.

It also is worth noting that the characters are really different from those that inhabit the “ordinary superheroic universes with underlined realism of their lives. , characters are the mysterious, powerful and extremely ominous people.

Nevertheless, the cast of the movie is 100% superheroic! Just look at those names: charming James McAvoy, powerful Bruce Willis, cool Samuel L. Jackson, mysterious Sarah Paulson and many more.

Will this movie surprise you?

“Glass” is much more closely related to ‘Split’ than to ‘Unbreakable’, however, “Glass” will be somewhat more ambitious. The budget of this movie, according to producer Jason Bloom, is extremely modest by Hollywood standards.

The director shared on what films he watched for inspiration for Glass. It turned out to be the famous black comedy “Pulp Fiction” (1994) and the mystical thriller “Don’t Look Now” (1973). So, considering these two classic movies, try to imagine what’s awaiting you in the theaters.

Here are some of the top critics’ comments on “Glass”:

  • “Glass” is a movie so muddled and so meta that it not only seeks to remind you – implicitly, and every five minutes – how movies work, but it includes a character who explicitly comments upon the action,” Michael O’Sullivan for Washington Post.
  • “Glass” isn’t a terrible film but neither is it a particularly good one, and it certainly doesn’t stick the landing the way the filmmaker and his hardy fans have probably hoped,” Ty Burr for Boston Globe.
  • “M. Night Shyamalan has crafted a very effective creepshow with “Glass,” a shotgun marriage of his 2000 horror hit “Unbreakable” and 2016’s “Split,” an even bigger blockbuster,” Soren Andersen for Seattle Times.
