Some tourists try to maintain a stereotype that all French people wear berets, vests, and walk with a baguette in their hands. You don’t look like a French, dressing like that, you are a dullard.

2. Trying “traditional” food near the Eiffel Tower

You are mistaken if you think that when you are sitting in a restaurant near the Eiffel Tower, you are trying traditional French food. Most often this is a trick for tourists (French almost never eat there) so before you go anywhere, find out more about the place you go. Moreover, in France, there is a huge number of other cuisines (Indian, Moroccan, Italian, Chinese) where you can eat something exotic and delicious.

3. Cultural bluntness isn’t directed at you personally

Do we always smile at strangers in our country, start the conversations with them, and being nice to everyone? Most likely not, therefore, the French, have a lot of reasons not to answer you in return and this is not about you, someone had a bad day though.

4. Using a taxi without a necessity

The French rarely use taxi services due to their high cost. Moreover, France has a well-developed transport system, that’s why it is not necessary to use a taxi without extreme necessity. Of course, it is better to go by feet, because you can accidentally come across showplace, which is not mentioned in any tourist map.

5. Wearing flip-flops in the city

Well, no one can forbid you to wear any form of clothes, but walking around the city in the flip-flops be ready for a sideways glance. Besides the fact, that it is not culturally at all.

6. Thinking French people adore eating frog legs

If you consider that the French eat frog legs for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, you’ll only be disappointed. You should know, that it is not that easy to find a restaurant with frog legs in the menu and if you find such, be sure that it is a tourist-driven restaurant.

7. Waiting for a bill and getting mad at waiters in restaurants

In France, the waiter usually doesn’t bring a bill when you have finished your meal, because they don’t want to offense you. So if you need the bill, don’t wait and politely ask the waiter to bring it to you.

8. Supposing everyone speaks English

Not everyone is required to know English, so don’t bother people with your requests to tell you how to get to the Eiffel Tower. Show a little respect and at least learn a couple of phrases in French. For example: “Bonjour, excusez-moi, parlez-vous anglais?”-“Hi, excuse me, do you speak English?”, and if a person says “yes” then ask him what you want.

9. Thinking that Paris is everything you can see in France

You should visit the surroundings of France if you want to learn more about its culture. The Triumphal arch and a Tower are only small pieces in comparison with other beauty of this country which is beyond description.
