Venom is a sentient alien

Venom is an alien called Symbiote, he is amorphous and requires a human to bond with. When it has a host, Symbiote provides them with unique powers and the final organism created after the merger is called Venom.

The Symbiote firstly appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #252 (1984).

Symbiotes aren’t evil

Originally, Symbiotes weren’t evil. If they find a right host, they can achieve the perfect symbiosis. As it’s difficult to find a noble host, the symbiosis often results in evil and corrupt Venom.

Such Symbiotes make their host do various crimes, and, eventually, deplete the host until they’re dead.

A fan created Venom

Randy Schueller, a comic book fan from Illinois, was the one who created a Spider-Man villain – Venom. Originally, Schueller wanted to make a Spider-Man with a powerful black costume made up of unstable molecules. Jim Shooter, the editor-in-chief at the time, really liked the idea and offered $220 for a brand new comics character.

So now you know that the credit belongs to a simple Spider-Man fan from Illinois.

Venom loves chocolate

Eddie Brock’s symbiote can be calmed down by eating chocolate. As regular people eat chocolate for better mood and the phenethylamine. Phenethylamine is actually good for Venom as it stops it from eating human brains.

Voice was created by Hank Azaria

Hank Azaria was the one to voice Venom is the classic 1994 Spider-Man: The Animated Series and this sound remains canonical to this day. As Venom is the main villain of the series, it was important to choose the right voice people would remember.

Hank Azaria, known for his work on the Simpsons, is remembered by any person who watched 1994 Spider-Man: The Animated Series.

Venom – a woman?!

Yeah, that’s right! Venom was going to be a female: a woman sees her husband die in an accident, where the driver was watching Spider-Man when they hit the husband. The wife loses her sanity and focuses the hatred towards Spider-Man.

Unfortunately, Jim Salicrup, Marvel editor, didn’t like the character. Later on, Ann Weying would be finally the first female host.

Venom’s first host

Some think Peter Parker was the first host of Venom, but the truth is that Deadpool was actually the first one. In ‘Deadpool’s Secret Secret Wars’ Deadpool gets into symbiosis in 1984 during the Secret Wars.

Then, he gives away Venom to Spider-Man saying, “Remember, black is slimming.” Hilarious as always.

Daddy

Carnage is an offspring accidentally created by Venom. Except for this one, Venom has also 4 more ‘kids’: Agony, Lasher, Riot, Phage, and Scream.

Venom is a Guardian Of The Galaxy

This new version of Venom was designed for newcomers in Marvel universe. In fact, they never knew Venom as an evil character. Instead, the new readers had a chance to see Flash as a superhero with a cool costume that gives him powers.

Recently, he was added to the Guardians Of The Galaxy squad as he is an alien, so it makes sense.
