Why and for what?

It was announced on Facebook newsroom page on Nov. 22.

In such way, Facebook continues to increase its transparency strategy on Russian activity and advertising.

“This is part of our ongoing effort to protect our platforms and the people who use them from bad actors who try to undermine our democracy”, Facebook said in its post.

With the help of such tool, Facebook and Instagram users can see if they liked or followed any accounts connected with Russia’s “Internet Research Agency” between January 2015 and August 2017.

People will be able to use the portal by the end of the year in the Facebook Help Center, the company said.

Foreign actors spread misinformation leading up to the 2016 U.S. presidential election and influenced the results.

“It is important that people understand how foreign actors tried to sow division and mistrust using Facebook before and after the 2016 US election”, the company said in its blog.

The investigations continue as well as the new figures and numbers updating. As Nexter reported previously, according to the latest data, 10% of Facebook’s 2.07 billion monthly users are considered to be duplicate accounts.
