Biggest announcements

Facebook introduced a number of important things concerning privacy issues and future plans of the company. Here are the main ones in short:

1.

Facebook is adding dating app to its platform for the serious relationship, not hookups. “We understand this category better than anyone. Facebook’s entry will only be invigorating to all of us,”  Match Group, which owns Tinderresponded.

Shares of Match Group plummeted more than 20% immediately:

2. Oculus Go and AR news

Oculus Go headset is now on sale and its starting price is just $199 with 32GB storage. For $249 you get 64GB.

Big AR and VR news were announced, including the development of new Oculus theater. We expect to hear how an immersive theater VR experience will engage real actors, who perform in VR using motion capture.

3. Clear history feature

After Cambridge Analytica data breach, users have been waiting for the company to stop recording and saving every move they do in the app. That’s why Facebook announced an upcoming Clear History feature, which will allow you to easily delete your data from Facebook.

Clear History is “something privacy advocates have been asking for — and we will work with them to make sure we get it right,” Mark Zuckerberg commented on the issue.

WhatsApp and Instagram announced that it is adding a group video calling feature as Facetime.

WhatsApp has featured both one-on-one video chat and group texts. The company also introduced its own version of Stickers.

Instagram surprised users with other small announcements: an opportunity to minimize the video chat and continue to scroll Instagram page, and redesigned Explore tab.

5. AR news

Different brands can now integrate AR features into their messaging bots like the make-up bot could help you virtually try on different makeup, or you could place virtual furniture appear in your room.

Now only Kia, Nike, Sephora, and Asus have such bots, but it will more to come.
