Skipped audition

If you’re a beginning actor and dream about starring in such movies like Marvel’s “Black Panther” or “The Avengers” but still think you’ll fails the audition  -stop warring. Seems that sometimes Marvel skips this boring part and just pick someone they consider to be the best or so.

At least this happened with Chadwick Boseman.

In the recent interview to the Variety Ryan Coogler (film’s director) explained that they thought only of Boseman for the role of Black Panther, based on his prior on-screen transformations.

“I think it was 24 hours between saying his name in a creative story meeting and talking to his agent and getting on the phone with him,” says Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios.

What’s so special about Boseman as even so huge Marvel’s stars like Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth and Chris Pratt all originally had to audition for their Marvel parts, while Boseman got his offer on the spot without even a reading.

He accepted via speakerphone from Zurich, where he was doing press for “Get On Up.”

‘I think I’ve paid my dues’

When questioned by The Project on Wednesday, the 41-year-old claimed he earnt the right to play the character without an audition.

‘I think I’ve paid my dues. Otherwise…you know what I mean,’ he said.

Here’s how Kevin Feige remembers the moment the decision was made.

“We were sitting around a table. We were coming up with the story for [Captain America] Civil War [when] Nate Moore, our executive producer, suggested bringing in Black Panther because we were looking for a third party that wouldn’t necessarily side with Cap or Iron Man. And almost instantly we all said ‘Chadwick,’ Feige said. “And in my memory, though maybe it was the next day, we got him on speaker phone right then.”

“You hear people say this all the time when you’re in a setting like this but he was the only choice,” Feige said.

So, unlike some of the biggest stars currently playing superheroes, Boseman didn’t have to do anything to get the role. No auditions, no nothing. He just had to be himself.

Already jealous? That’s not all yet

It also turned out that the process of discussion the movie was nothing but a friendly talking.

“It wasn’t really an audition process. It was more of a discussion about what they wanted to do and how I saw it and what I wanted to do. It was more of a feeling out process, and they’re really smart. I can’t talk too much about it—the only thing I can say is that they are smarter than you think they are,” Chadwick said.
