Elon Musk Says Hyperloop Hit a Top Speed of 463kmh Before Exploding
Elon Musk‘s Hyperloop breaks speed record after test pod hit a new milestone speed of 288mph (463kph) before it exploded.
Here’s what we know about it so far.

Elon Musk is serious at trying to solve the transport problem with his The Boring Company and on Sunday, SpaceX’s 2019 Hyperloop Pod Competition showed that brilliantly.
At the 2019 edition of the SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition, student teams launch their prototype pods through a 1.2 km vacuum tube beside the SpaceX headquarters in California.

The competition asked teams who built pods for the Hyperloop to speed through the one-mile tube at SpaceX’s headquarters in Hawthorne, California. The winning time, by team TUM Hyperloop, set a new speed record of 288 miles per hour, four miles per hour faster than the previous record. The team was formerly known as WARR Hyperloop and set the record last year at 284 miles per hour.

Unfortunately for the winning team, their pod exploded shortly after reaching the top speed.
“We are happy to announce that we have reached a top speed of 463 km/h today,” the team announced on Twitter.
“Although we lost some parts on the way, we were able to successful finish our run and are proud to be the winners of the 2019 SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition.”

Elon Musk said that the company plans to make the hyperloop contest even more sophisticated next year by building a Hyperloop tube that’ll be nearly ten times longer with curves, requiring vehicles to navigate the course while still maintaining speed.
The latest speed record is not only a long way off this prediction, it is also not on the same level as the fastest high-speed trains currently in use in China and elsewhere around the world.
