It’s time to delete Facebook
It difficult to trust such social media giant as Facebook that seems betrayed its users as data analysis firm Cambridge Analytica that helped Donald Trump win the presidency had used information from millions of Facebook users without their permission.
After the New York Times and The Guardian’s Observer report based on investigations and interview with whistle-blower Christopher Wylie who worked with a Cambridge University academic to obtain the data, many people started to call for actions.
Among those who ask to leave scandal-hit Facebook is Brian Acton, the co-founder of messaging service WhatsApp, which Facebook now owns.
In his laconic tweet, Acton said that “it is time,” adding the hashtag #deletefacebook.
It is time. #deletefacebook

As for today, Facebook’s stock price is down more than 11%.
Who is Brian Acton?
Acton had been working for Facebook until leaving last fall. He had joined the company in 2014, when Facebook spent $19 billion to acquire Whatsapp.
Last month, Acton invested $50 million into Signal, an independent alternative to WhatsApp.

What does Facebook say about it?
Facebook held an open meeting at 10 am Tuesday morning in Menlo Park but Mark Zuckerberg himself wasn’t there.
A company spokesperson said in a statement to media that the Facebook CEO was “working around the clock” alongside COO Sheryl Sandberg and their respective teams on getting all the facts about the incident to take the appropriate actions moving forward.
“The entire company is outraged we were deceived,” the statement continued. “We are committed to vigorously enforcing our policies to protect people’s information and will take whatever steps are required to see that this happens.”
