The penalty is the scariest punishment of all known. Most of the countries discontinued the practice, however, now we’re interested in ones that use the penalty.

As for 2018, the following countries do or do not perform capital punishment.

  • Still practice penalty: 54 countries around the globe;
  • Countries that have not performed the action during the last 10 years: 30;
  • Have not executed anyone during the last 14 or more years: 7;
  • Countries that discontinued the practice: 104;

Capital punishment in US 

US is one of the most developed countries to still use the penalty. For now, capital punishment is a legal and used in 31 states.

Lethal cocktail of drugs 

Nevada is to use an untested cocktail of drugs for the first time if 12 years. Scott Raymond Dozier will be injected with a combination known as cisatracurium at Ely state prison on 11 July. He committed several violent murders and had written to a judge saying he wants to die for the things he’s done.

Hanging

The inmate stands over a wooden trap while a noose is placed around their neck. Then, they fall and break the neck. However, sometimes they strangle for several minutes.

Firing squad

In this way, the target is placed on the heart of the convict. The shooters try to hit the target the person dies immediately.

Electrocution 

Prisoners are tied into a chair with electrodes placed on their heads and legs. Also, wet sponges are placed between the skin and the electrodes.

In 2007,  Tennessee executed Daryl Holton by electric chair.

Gas chamber

This method was found as an attempt to develop a humane method of execution. The original idea was to put the gas into a chamber while the prisoners were sleeping. However, later they just tied inmates into the chair, so they are fully awake and conscious as they suffocate.
