7 Places Inspired by Beloved Musicians: Bowie-themed Subway, Beatles Peace Tower + 5 More


The residents of New York City were surprised to see two subway station decorated with posters and themed MetroCards.

Bowie-themed MetroCards are available at the Broadway-Lafayette and Bleecker Street stations in Manhattan. Also, these stations are decorated with help of the Brooklyn Museum’s ‘ Is’ exhibit.

It’s a collaboration with Spotify and Brooklyn Museum. 

“Each piece of art will be paired with something Bowie has said that speaks to his affection for the city and its impact on his work, giving further insight into the artist’s mindset and methods,” stated a spokesman responsible for the exhibition.

The Broadway-Lafayette station is also decorated with Bowie images.

Imagine Peace Tower located on a small island in Iceland’s capital city is to spread the message of peace and love for all. It becomes illuminated every year from October 9th (John Lennon’s birthday) and remains lit until December 8th (the date of his death).

The cafe is set in a British pub, Cardinal, in Tokyo. There are Bowie album covers and poster everywhere, especially in their special place called ‘Bowie Listening Room’.

Then there are the cocktails named after Bowie songs: “Cat People,” “China Girl” and “The Man Who Fell To Earth.”

The shop front and interior color scheme is a bright shade of blue, matching the album artwork Nevermind.
